[Arp] Large ARP application speed

I have a large application (many ArpForms) that takes more processing
power than I'd like it to. Has anyone done any tweaking or testing of
ways to speed things up.  For example, since Flash keeps updating
invisible forms on the stage, has anyone tried modifying
ArpForm::show() and hide() to actually move the forms to an x,y
position off of the stage instead of just making them invisible? 
Would anyone with more experience in large applications care to
comment on this or other methods I might pursue?
