Hi Erik,

First off -- thanks on the props and welcome aboard! :)

There is a lot that needs to be improved and the list you mentioned is a 
very good one. I just got through teaching my first course  hat uses ARP 
and stuff has come out of that too (and this list of course -- with some 
very valuable feedback by Darron, Owen and company...)

I want to form a small group -- an advisory committee, if you will -- to 
debate and suggest implementations for improvements. I will be 
contacting some of you in the coming days. I have a version in 
Subversion currently that we need to open up for public access ASAP, 
followed by a public 2.1 release (in which I cannot see why we can't 
implement at least the first three points.) I am going to be dead with 
work until Thursday but after that I am going to be devoting a lot of 
time to the 2.1 release.

Off to bed before I faint...
